The Diversity & Equality Partnership is a body in Milton Keynes made up of the Heads/other appropriate representatives of the relevant organisations/bodies in Milton Keynes which oversee/advocate and input to, each of the six diversity strands (Age, Gender, Sexuality, Disability, Race, Religion and Belief) covered in the Equality Act.

Purpose of the DEP:

  • To be a solution-focused consultative body that represents the strands from which they come and actively promotes, through Good Practice, community cohesion, social inclusion, equality of opportunity, and awareness of Milton Keynes’ diverse communities using the means we have.
  • To work closely with statutory and community sector partners to promote effective communications, to benefit all the communities in Milton Keynes.
  • To engage with existing and new communities, and thereby help represent their interests, views and concerns, to relevant statutory and non-statutory organisations in Milton Keynes.

Training

The aim of these training sessions is to “encourage best practice and opportunities” and provide participants with how best to best engage people from different diversity strands.There is a series of session taking place between January to March 2012, run by members of the Diversity & Equality Partnership.

Engaging Diversity - A day of good practive and great ideas

14th March, Crysalis Theatre 9:30am - 4pm

A day to help excite and inspire you and the ways your organisation engages with people and issues from across the strands of diversity. We have speakers coming from Milton Keynes and across the country to share their great ideas and unique projects! The day will end with a hosted discussion on "challenges to engagement".
